Firefighters, paramedics, and specialists
from South Trail Fire and Rescue District,
six other Lee County fire districts, the Lee County Division of Public
Safety and K-9 search teams comprise the Southwest Florida Urban Search and Rescue
(USAR) team. Designated as Task Force Six by the State of Florida, SWF USAR
FL-TF6 is trained to respond to local, regional,
and state
disasters such as hurricanes, bombings, floods, and tornadoes.
The
South Trail Fire and Rescue District, fire districts in Bonita Springs,
Estero, San Carlos
Park, Iona-McGregor, Fort Myers Beach, as well as
the Lee County Division of Public Safety, provide SWF USAR FL-TF6 with personnel and
financial support for specialized training and equipment.
The following
South Trail Fire & Rescue personnel are members of SWF USAR: Battalion
Chief Jody Payne, Lieutenant Lazaro Llerena, Lieutenant Steve Mozes,
Lieutenant Matt Seneca, Engineer Cindi Yeager,
Engineer Cliff Linzalone,
Engineer Matt Thunell,
Firefighter Tim Alexander, Firefighter Chris Armiger, Firefighter Robert Feliciano, and PIO Christie Knudsen.
SWF USAR FL-TF6 specializes in confined space, trench,
swift water, low/high angle rope, and structural collapse rescues.
FL-TF 6 deployed to areas impacted by Hurricanes Charley,
Frances, and Ivan in 2004, and to Hurricane Dennis in 2005.
