I believe that
one of the greatest ambitions in life is to be a firefighter.
Simply stated, firefighters serve others. It has been my
privilege to serve the residents, business owners, and visitors
of the South Trail Fire District as your Fire Chief since
December 2007. Further, I have served this great community
as a firefighter since 1987. I can proudly say that the
South Trail Fire District strives to provide the absolute best
fire and emergency services to the community we serve, the heart
of Lee County.
A fire service organization can only provide the level of service
that the community is willing to fund; therefore, fiscal
responsibility and trust is absolutely imperative. My
staff and I work closely with our elected Board of Commissioners
to assure that tax dollars are spent prudently with the overall
objective to assure that lives are saved through prevention,
education, and emergency response.
You will see on this website that our focus is on these three
critical aspects of life safety. In addition, you will
note the many and varied ways we maintain our focus: partly
through training of our personnel in fire, technical rescue,
hazardous materials, and emergency medical services; partly
through improvements in stations and equipment; partly through
keeping our emergency responders safe; partly through educating
children on the dangers of fires; partly through educating young
people to be the next generation of firefighters; partly through
community involvement in volunteer teams such as CERT; and,
partly through outstanding customer service.
You will also see that the strength of this organization is with
the people. Our personnel are a diverse group with
different backgrounds, hailing from different parts of the
country. The most important aspect of this team of
employees is that we consider ourselves a family. We treat
each other with respect and compassion, and this is a direct
reflection on how we treat our customers.
I thank you for taking the time to visit our website and for your
interest in the South Trail Fire Protection and Rescue Service
District.
Yours in service,
William B. Lombardo
