South Trail Fire & Rescue Explorers...

Explorers win gold and silver medals at Winterfest.

The South Trail Fire and Rescue Explorer Program is open to young men and young women between the ages 14 and 21.  The program is an Explorer Post under the Boy Scouts of America's Learning for Life Program.

Explorers with their Firematics' Sportsmanship Award at January 2011 Commission meeting.

Since 1997, the South Trail Explorer program has provided area youths with an opportunity to learn about the fire service profession while having fun and making a contribution to the community.  The explorers learn CPR and first aid, and participate in training exercises, a ride-along program, community events, field trips, and camping excursions.

One of the favorite activities for the explorers is the ride-along program.  During school holidays and on Saturdays, if an open seat is available on the truck, the explorers may ride-along on calls with the firefighters.

The Explorers meet the first and third Thursdays of every month, 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., at Station #63, 5531 Halifax Ave.  For more information on the South Trail Explorer program, please call the Explorer Hotline at 344-9515 or contact the South Trail Fire Department at 433-0080.
