Urban Search and Rescue

Firefighters, paramedics, and specialists from South Trail Fire and Rescue District, five other Lee County fire districts, the Lee County Division of Public Safety, and five K-9 search teams comprise the Southwest Florida Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team.  Designated as Task Force Six by the State of Florida, SWF USAR FL-TF6 is trained to respond to local, regionalUSARJoe.jpg (67621 bytes), and state disasters such as hurricanes, bombings, floods, and tornadoes.

The South Trail Fire and Rescue District, fire districts in Bonita Springs, Estero, San Carlos Park, Iona-McGregor, and Fort Myers Beach, as well as Lee County Division of Public Safety provide SWF USAR FL-TF6 with personnel and financial support for specialized training and equipment.  The following South Trail Fire & Rescue personnel are members of SWF USAR: Training Director William Lombardo, Battalion Chief Jody Payne, Lieutenant Joe Gugliuzza, Lieutenant Steve Mozes, Engineer Cindi Yeager, Firefighter Brett Ezell, Firefighter Robert Feliciano, Firefighter Lazaro Llerena, and PIO Christie Knudsen.

SWF USAR FL-TF6 specializes in confined space, trench, swift water, low/high angle rope, and structural collapse rescues.
