The South Trail Fire and Rescue Teen Firefighter Program is open to young men and young women between the ages 14 and 21. The program is an Explorer Post under the Boy Scouts of America's Learning for Life Program.
Since 1997, the South Trail Teen Firefighter program has provided area youths with an opportunity to learn about the fire service profession while having fun and making a contribution to the community. The teens learn CPR and first aid, and participate in training exercises, a ride-along program, community events, field trips, and camping excursions. One of the favorite activities for the teens is the ride-along program. During school holidays and on Saturdays, if an open seat is available on the truck, the teens may ride-along on calls with the firefighters. The teens meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month at 7:00 p.m. at Station #3, 5531 Halifax Ave. For more information on the South Trail Teen Firefighter program, please contact the South Trail Fire Department at 433-0080.
