About South Trail Fire & Rescue

South Trail Fire Protection and Rescue Service District is located in south Fort Myers, Lee County, Florida, between Tampa and Naples.  Because the district is just a few miles from the Gulf of Mexico, hurricane response training is important.  In the winter months, the area is prone to dryness and conditions conducive to brush fires. The District serves a community of approximately 45,000 residents in a 55 square mile area with four fire stations, a paid staff of 72, and an operating budget of $9.2 million.

Responsibilities of South Trail Fire and Rescue include fire, rescue, and emergency medical services; fire prevention; public education; and new development plans review and inspections.  In 2002, South Trail Fire and Rescue responded to 5,468 total alarms.

Mission Statement

The South Trail Fire Department is recognized as a progressive leader in providing the highest quality emergency services, combined with a strong emphasis on public education, prevention and customer service.  This organization is dedicated to the preservation of life, property and the environment by meeting the needs of an expanding and diverse community.  The members of the South Trail Fire Department shall strive to provide a safe, professional and caring environment that is honest and ethical, and that treats all individuals equally with respect and dignity.

These goals will be accomplished with the most cost effective service while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism through training, education and quality assurance that reflects pride and respect for the community and this organization.
