On Saturday, November 3, 2001, the South
Trail Fire and Rescue District hosted an Open House at Station #3 on
Halifax Avenue. Visitors to the Open House viewed apparatus displays from area fire and emergency services providers
and watched elevated victim rescue, vehicle extrication, bomb detonation,
and fire extinguisher demonstrations.
A safer community was the
theme of exhibitors at the Open House--visitors had their blood pressure
checked and their children fingerprinted, received free bike helmets, learned about child
safety seats, toured the fire safety
house, and had their vehicle identification numbers engraved. On the lighter side, puppets, face painters, clowns, Sparky, Smokey Bear, Max the FireDog, and Howee Care the Ambulance entertained children of all ages. Balloons, souvenirs, hot dogs, soft drinks, and popcorn were plentiful and enjoyed by all. Thanks for a fun and memorable event to the South Trail employees and community volunteers who planned and worked the Open House and to the South Trail residents and visitors who attended!
