Phoenix Award, when a person who was in cardiac arrest is resuscitated and recovers. Tonight, the family and survivor was able to video call in and speak to the firefighters that saved Zach, their dad, a husband and brother. In February, on a bike path far away from the main parking lots, a man had a sudden cardiac arrest in front of his wife and three young children. Two bystanders immediately started CPR, and E63 crew arrived running by foot carrying bags of equipment and worked their hardest to save this man. Tonight, the awards were presented in front of this family via video call and our firefighters and bystanders were able to see and speak to the man they saved. Thank you to E63 crew, Captain/Paramedic David Bollen, Firefighter/EMT Anthony Linzalone, Firefighter/Paramedic Stephan Jonas. And also, Interim Chief Gene Rogers and Firefighter/Paramedic Michael Stoker assisted with the save and earned a Phoenix Award too.
